Dear Training providers,

as the apprentice is ready.

Mark Scheme is in the Support and Guidance section of EPA Vision.
Kind regards

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a continuously evolving technology, and this has the potential to effect the delivery of End Point Assessments, particularly where an Apprentice submits written work to Assessu, for example a Business Project or Portfolio of Evidence. We also need to ensure that tests and exams are administered correctly, and learner results are valid.
Assessu requires, that no Apprentice or Employer IT equipment has any AI software, or similar AI assistance applications installed on any PC or laptop used as part of the conduction of tests or exams, or as an aid to produce written work. We also do not expect Apprentices to use search engines to access AI.
An application is not permitted for use during any assessment if it can be used to gain marks illegitimately in an assessment, for example to:
Any assessments undertaken using AI software will not be marked, and the candidate will receive a ‘fail’ grade.
Assessu will remind Apprentices undertaking Remote Assessments, or submitting written work, that devices with AI software installed cannot be used. This includes but is not exhaustive of AI Apps on Mobile Phones and Tablets.
If Assessu becomes aware of an Apprentice using AI software in a test or exam, the invigilator will stop the assessment immediately and raise it as potential malpractice.
Assessu reserves the right to conduct spot checks to detect such malpractice.
We appreciate that we are all working hard to navigate the usage of AI programmes, and as such if you have any further questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us at epa@assessu.co.uk.

Please be aware that we have now finalised our updated Reasonable Adjustment Policy. This will be implemented with immediate effect.
The policy supports training providers to apply for a reasonable adjustment before their End Point Assessment where apprentices have a difficulty, condition or disability. The application can be accessed via an online form here.
The policy includes guidance and examples on different types of reasonable adjustments that can be requested although all applications will be reviewed on a case by case basis. All applications must be supported by appropriate evidence. If you have any queries regarding reasonable adjustments, please let us know. Team Assessu
Please be aware that we have now finalised our updated Special Considerations Policy. This will be implemented with immediate effect.
The policy supports apprentices, employers and training providers to apply for a small adjustment to their End Point Assessment due to unforeseen circumstances outside of the apprentice’s control such as illness or bereavement. This application can be accessed via an online form here.
Please note that Special Consideration applications can only be made within the assessment window following Gateway and prior to the result being released. Please also be aware that capacity issues and work levels at the apprentice’s workplace are not classed as a valid reason for a special consideration as the employer must ensure that the apprentice has the time and capacity to complete their End Point Assessment within their assessment window when passing through Gateway. Any apprentices who fail to complete their initial End Point Assessment attempts within a stipulated window will be given an overall Fail and will be subject to resit / retake requirements within the relevant assessment plan.
If you have any queries regarding special considerations, please let us know.

Please be aware that the following new standard versions have been released as a result of a funding band change.
These were all made live on 26/06/2023 on the IfATE website. We have been informed by IfATE that these versions can only be applied to apprentices starting on programme from this date. All apprentices who have started on programme prior to this will be subject to the older funding bands on the previous version. Therefore, in these situations it is not necessary to transfer apprentices to the newer versions.
With this in mind, Assessu will look to introduce these new versions from June 2024, to allow apprentices who started on these versions to complete their minimum of 12 months on programme learning. We will send out a further update once these are live.
In addition to the above, there has been a new standard version for Retailer (ST0327 / IfATE v1.2) also. However, in addition to a new funding band the standard and the assessment plan have also been updated and therefore, it is possible for apprentices to transfer to this newer version regardless of their on programme start date. Assessu have consulted with customers on this and will start the development of this new standard version shortly, with the aim of being in a position to assess from January 2024. Please ensure all apprentices due for assessment before this date are registered on IfATE v1.1 on the ILR. It is crucial that apprentices are registered on the ILR for the correct standard version they are assessed on to ensure that we can certificate the apprentice once they have successfully completed their End Point Assessment.
If you have any questions or concerns about standard versions, please contact us at epa@assessu.co.uk
Please be aware that IfATE have published a new standard version for Retail Manager. The new version is v1.2 and was published on 17/05/2023.
The changes are:
As with any new version, Assessu will create assessment materials which will reflect the changes and prepare for assessments on this version. We plan to assess against these new requirements on version 1.2 from 01/11 2023 and apprentices already on programme at this point will be able to transfer to the new version.
Therefore, apprentices will be assessed as follows:
In all cases, PLEASE ensure the apprentice is registered on the same version that matches the ILR. If it does not match we will be unable to claim the Apprenticeship certification on completion of the End Point Assessment.
Further information about the new versions can be found on the IfATE website below:
